What is the fare to travel on one of the Board’s buses?
The standard bus fare in Barbados is BDS$1.50. (No foreign coins accepted)
How does a person identify the buses of the transport Board?
The Board’s buses are predominantly blue with a yellow stripe and carries the words Barbados Transport Board written in black on the yellow stripe
Is exact change required to travel on the buses?
The Board uses a fare box system and as such the drivers are not equipped with change. However, if boarding from one of the Board’s Terminals change can be obtained from a cashier located at the terminal.
What are the cashiers opening hours?
Cashiers are available from 0700 hours to 2200 hours daily.
How many terminals or depots does the Board operate?
There are three (3) terminals which are located at:
Fairchild Street, Bridgetown
Princess Alice Terminal, Bridgetown
Speightstown St. Peter
A depot is located at Mangrove, St. Phillip and a sub-terminal at Oistins, Christ Church.
At what age do children travel free?
Children under the age of five (5) years are allowed to travel free. However, these children must be accompanied by an adult and cannot occupy a seat in the bus.
At what age do adults travel free?
Adults travel free from the age of 65 years. However adults must have a Barbados Identification Card and must produce same to the driver to board the bus.
At what age does a child qualify to travel with a scholar pass?
A child attending a recognized educational institution between the ages of 5 and 18 years can travel on a scholar pass. This includes persons attending the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic and the Barbados Community College.
What is a Scholar Pass and what is the price?
A Scholar pass is a ticket which allows a child to utilize the Board buses for 20 trips weekly. This is based on 4 trips per day, two (2) in the a.m. and two (2) in the p.m. for a five (5) day week Monday – Friday. The trips must be utilized in the same calendar week. The price of a scholar pass is Bds$7.50 per week.
