Driver of the Year 2005
Little was known about the quiet soft spoken John Springer before he captured the most coveted Transport Board’s “Driver of the Year” Award for 2005. Mr. Springer won this award for his accident free driving, his excellent attendance record, punctuality, deportment, high level of customer service and a driver who covers his routes hence numerous kilometers on the road. The above categories won Mr. Springer “Driver of the Month” for November and December 2005. Mr. Springer’s advise is “Do the things you have to do, try to over come the pressures that come with the job (dealing with the traveling public) take care of the equipment that is in your care and be in control at all times”. His motto is “you can only do eight hours work in an eight hour day”. These things would surely put you in line for Driver of the Year.
Mr. Springer came to the Transport Board with a heavy duty license and did the required training to acquire a bus license and officially started his tenure at the Transport Board on May 12, 2003 where he was assign to the washstand at Weymouth depot as a Duty Driver. While working on the washstand, Mr. Springer exhibited the potential for being an employee who would offer tremendous potential to the organization. He had very good driving skills, was very helpful, always neatly attired and on time for duty daily. He was transferred to the Operations Department on October 17, 2003 and was assigned to the Fairchild Street Terminal where he works on most routes in the terminal.
Mr. Ian Jessamy General Manager of the Transport Board congratulated Mr. Springer along with the thirty (30) other drivers listed as Driver for the Month during the months of October, November and December.
