The Transport Board celebrated Father’s Day with a Scenic Tour to River Bay and East Coast Road. Though this tour was catered to fathers, it was predominantly supported by women and children. The morning started out cloudy but by midday bright skies prevailed and the regular Scenic Tour Family and invitees came out in their numbers.
Twenty-six (26) buses departed from Independence Square traveling a scenic route through the hill and valleys of Barbados to the River Bay. The route to River Bay took us through Kendal, Four Roads, Villa Nova, Macollin Bridge, Grantley Adams School, Branchbury, Broomsbury, Belleplaine, Shorey Village, Farley Hill at River Bay. Patrons sat at various vantage points enjoying the view of the rugged but beautiful coast line when the buses reached the River Bay destination. After leaving that picturesque site, the route to East Coast Road took us through Hope, Harrises, Benthams, Allen Dale, Benny Hill, Farley Hill, Greenland, Belleplaine and ended at the East Coast Road. On reaching the picturesque East Coast Road patrons could be seen journeying through thick vegetation in search of the famous fatpork and cashew.
Eleven prizes were drawn including one for a ticket to St. Lucia with the compliments of Caribbean Star and two pizzas with the compliments of Pizza-Man-Doc. The Management would like to thank all those who participated in making the Scenic Tour a success. Also special mention should be made to the General Workers who continue to provided clean buses for this event and the drivers for their due care and attention on the road which resulted in an accident free day.
