Recognize, Report, Rescue: Transport Board Supports National Anti-Trafficking Campaign

The Transport Board has partnered with the Office of the Attorney General to raise awareness about human trafficking through a powerful new bus wrap campaign. This initiative highlights a crime that destroys lives and communities, while calling on the public to recognize the signs and act.

The management of the Transport Board acknowledges that public transportation systems can play a critical role in either hindering or assisting human trafficking. Traffickers may attempt to use buses and other modes of transit to move victims discreetly. At the same time, buses can also become vital points of intervention—places where victims can be seen, where signs can be recognised, and where the public can step in by reporting suspicious activity. By making this message visible across our fleet, the Transport Board is taking an active step to ensure transportation is part of the solution.

Recognizing the signs is key. Victims may have little or no social interaction, feel they cannot leave, believe they must work against their will, or be forced to work long hours. Silent signals such as the “Please Help Me” hand gesture are also critical indicators. Every passenger and every member of the community has a responsibility to be alert and responsive.

This campaign also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, which calls for ending abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and all forms of violence. By leveraging the reach of public transport, the Transport Board and the Attorney General’s office are helping protect the vulnerable, strengthen national resilience, and reinforce a culture of vigilance and care.

If you see something, say something. Call Police Emergency 211 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-8477 to report suspicious activity and help stop human trafficking.
