
The Board of Directors, Management and staff of the Transport Board join the Government and people of Barbados, the regional community and the wider international sporting fraternity in mourning the passing of The Right Excellent Sir Garfield St. Aubrun Sobers, National Hero of Barbados.
Sir Garfield’s extraordinary contribution to cricket, his unwavering commitment to excellence and the pride with which he represented Barbados earned him the admiration and respect of people across the world. His remarkable achievements and enduring humility established a legacy that will continue to inspire generations of Barbadians.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, former teammates and all those whose lives were touched by his outstanding service and example.
Transportation for the State Service of Thanksgiving
To support members of the public attending the State Service of Thanksgiving, the Transport Board will provide free transportation services on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.
Park and Ride services will operate from the following locations:
- Garfield Sobers Gymnasium
- Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre
- Queen’s College
- National Cultural Foundation Car Park
The Park and Ride sites will open from 6:30 a.m. and will remain open until one hour after the conclusion of the service.
Transportation will also be provided from selected points across the island, including:
- Oistins Sub-Terminal
- Six Roads
- Speightstown Terminal
Members of the public are encouraged to follow the Transport Board’s website and social media platforms for additional information regarding departure times and service arrangements.
